Event To Celebrate London's Zeitgeist

Time Out Magazine turned 50. Guess who they asked us to throw the big bday bash? Yes. Yours truly! It’s what we know best, so naturally, we went big…

We took over the Granary Square in London's Kings Cross to host a fantastic 50th birthday party event.

Almost four thousand revellers had access to three stage arenas, a wrestling ring, a floating canal boat hosting a comedy stage, as well as music, theatre and other sideshow venues.

Bearded Kitten were responsible for design concepts, pre-production, fabrication, installation and event management of the whole birthday festival, and we've now become Time Out’s preferred event supplier.

The Brief

Time Out wanted to mark 50 years of shaping London culture with a one-day celebration that felt like them: bold, busy, brilliant. A live event in King’s Cross that brought the magazine to life, packed with food, music, theatre, and the city’s best entertainment - all the things that represent Time Out best

Creative Concept

We designed the whole thing like a living, breathing issue of Time Out. A curated mix of stages, zones, and surprise moments, from a wrestling ring to a comedy stage on a canal boat. Street food legends KERB brought the snacks. Gingerline handled the immersive performances. We stitched it all together with our signature BK energy. It all felt very much like an OG Bearded Kitten project!

The Delivery

Our London event teams took on full design, infrastructure and live management, including its full programming schedule alongside Time Out’s editorial team. Production, infrastructure, install and pack down were managed by our in-house creative fabrication partner, Bearded Kitten Studios.

We nailed the layout to avoid sound clashes, managed over 150 performers, ran six bars, and got 3,500 happy, happy people through the gates. All in a one-day build. All in central London. Even the sun showed up. Call it BK magic.

The Impact

The event sold out, the stages stayed full, and Time Out looked (and felt) like the London legend it is. Coverage ran in the magazine and across socials. Guests got the full Time Out experience – theatre, comedy, music, food, and more – all bundled as one live moment.
