Senior Business Development Lead

What's the role?

The Senior Business Development Manager leads the agency’s new-business function, acting as the strategic and operational driver behind pitch growth, lead conversion, and market expansion. This role is responsible for managing new client pipelines, shaping high-quality pitch responses, aligning internal resourcing, and feeding into the long-term commercial strategy of the agency.

The position combines strategic thinking, creative development oversight, external relationship building, and strong commercial judgement to accelerate the agency’s growth.

What will you do?

1. New Business Leadership & Pitch Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for new client enquiries, managing relationships from initial approach through to final pitch delivery.
  • Conduct chemistry sessions, establish client needs, and ensure seamless communication throughout the pitch process.
  • Lead internal resourcing for pitch responses—working with Senior Leadership to identify the strongest team based on expertise, capacity, and strategic fit.
  • Maintain oversight of pitch development, ensuring deadlines, creative direction, and client requirements are met.
  • Manage freelancers (creative, strategy, design) as needed for pitch support and new-biz tasks.
  • Help build pitch budgets and oversee commercial accuracy in submissions.
  • Ensure the Director of Production and Production Team receive clear briefs for pitch costings and logistical outlines.
  • After each pitch, gather and analyse client feedback (win or loss) to improve future performance and shape internal best practices.

2. Agency Growth & Commercial Development

  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts through upselling, cross-selling, and integrated client partnership development working closely with the Managing Partner.
  • Map and research new clients, sectors, and market opportunities aligned with agency ambitions, especially within:
  • Support the Director of Production in expanding BK Studios—enhancing outbound activity, attending chemistry sessions, and representing the studio during calls, meetings, and workshop tours.
  • Contribute to high-level commercial strategy and revenue planning alongside Senior Leadership.

3. Marketing, Social & Industry Engagement

  • Drive marketing initiatives including content creation, campaign support, thought leadership, and case-study development.
  • Lead the awards programme—managing submissions, identifying opportunities for Senior Leadership to speak, judge, or join panels.
  • Support the planning and delivery of the agency’s first self-produced owned event.
  • Represent the agency at industry events, conferences, networking sessions, and trade shows to support visibility and new-business growth.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor positioning, and market shifts to inform strategy and identify new opportunities.

4. Operational Management & Internal Processes

  • Lead the weekly New Business meeting, setting agenda, actions, and follow-up.
  • Manage internal budgets for Ads & Marketing, Awards, Social Media, Client Entertainment, New Business, and Pitch Freelancers.
  • Oversee website updates and ensure all new projects and case studies are added promptly.
  • Maintain and refine the agency creds, ensuring it remains up to date and fit for purpose.
  • Manage the New Business calendar, keeping the Managing Partner informed of pipeline health and resourcing needs.
  • Maintain the new-biz spreadsheet, including pitch pipeline, conversion metrics, and win/loss tracking.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience leading new business pitches within a creative, marketing, or production agency
  • Ability to own the pitch process end-to-end, from initial enquiry to final submission
  • Confident running chemistry meetings and building senior client relationships
  • Strong experience briefing and coordinating creative, strategy, and production teams
  • Solid commercial awareness, including pitch budgeting and cost control
  • Highly organised, with strong project management and deadline ownership
  • Experience managing new business pipelines, tracking opportunities, and reporting clearly
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Confident, professional, and credible in client-facing environments

Account Manager

What's the role?

As an Account Manager you will be working with the projects team to deliver multiple events throughout the year. The core purpose of this role is to help oversee key accounts with the support of a Senior Account Director, lead a team and maintain a strong client relationship.

The ideal Account Manager would have experience of working in the event industry as an Account Manager or similar role and demonstrate that they can lead projects and accounts with budgets of £200k plus. This position requires the ability to work under a Senior Account Director on the bigger accounts but also lead our smaller accounts and build effective client relationships, think strategically and play a pivotal role in translating client’s objectives into reality.

OBJECTIVES

  • Project management, leading teams to deliver multiple projects at any one time.
  • Relationship management with key clients.
  • Financial management, including forecasting, budgeting, authorising expenditure and reconciliation.
  • Maximise agency wide KPIs and profit margins by overseeing several project budgets.
  • Planning, resourcing, risk management, reporting and analysis.

What will you do?

General

  • Manage accounts and projects, often simultaneously, from brief to completion.
  • Support the Senior Account Director in leading project teams on multiple projects.
  • Share experience and insight to project proposals, ensuring that they balance creative ambition with practical delivery whilst offering value to our clients.
  • Determine project workflows, timelines and objectives with overview of full production and delivery management.
  • Undertake any other duties within the scope of your knowledge and skills as required.

Team Management

  • Support on project resource management, help assign appropriate resources based on skill and experiences, as well as client requirements.
  • Build clear lines of communication with the team to ensure effective development and delivery, ensuring all key project milestones are met on target.
  • Support on the schedule for the team and to help ensure all projects are appropriately resourced, raising and escalating any concerns as and when required.

Client Relationship

  • Responsible for the client and agency relationship, and the successful retention of projects.

  • Maintain quality control from production to execution, ensuring client satisfaction exceeds targets.

  • Present concepts in a clear and concise way, producing decks and plans to showcase results and win new business.

Finance

  • Accountable for profitability of the overall project, ensuring growth of client accounts.
  • Support on budget reconciliations.

New Business Development

  • Support on the pitching process.
  • Attend and present pitch presentations when required.
  • Actively promote Bearded Kitten through best practice.

Creative

  • Help support the creative to ensure feasibility of ideas and designs, ensuring client expectations and requirements are realised.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop concepts and help shape ideas into reality.
  • Clearly communicate the agency’s creative process to project teams.
  • Ability to think creatively to deliver ideas and solutions as well as the ability to enhance the client’s KPIs through actions and contributions.

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in the events industry working as an Account Manager, Producer or similar role.
  • Experience of leading a wide range of projects .
  • Capable of managing medium scale budgets of £200k plus.
  • Excellent client management skills, with the ability to understand and respond to the client’s strategy and unlock future opportunities.
  • Strong budgeting skills with experience of overseeing profit and growth.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor responses according to the situation and communicate with clarity, conviction and persuasiveness.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with others and champion collaborative ways of working.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of H&S requirements and compliance laws as well as the ability to manage third party suppliers.
  • Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Senior Technical Designer

What's the role?

The Senior Technical Designer will work collaboratively with the design, production and construction departments in the physical realisation of scenic temporary, permanent/semi-permanent environments and live event concepts for Bearded Kitten (the creative experience agency) and Bearded Kitten Studios (the creative fabrication arm). The successful candidate will be a key part of our creative studio in central London and our workshop in Bromley-by-Bow.

As part of this role you will be consulting on design/construction methods, creating technical, bench and CNC drawings for the construction team as well as assembly/layout drawings for on-site/touring teams. You will also be expected to assist the design department as necessary, as well as working with the new business team in providing costings and specifications for pitches and briefs. The role will be expected to conduct site surveys and assist on the successful installation of the designs that have been created.

What will you do?

  • Receive briefs from design and production managers and use your problem solving skills and technical knowledge to arrive at practical solutions.
  • 2D drafting and technical construction drawing (construction (bench) drawings / floor plans / layouts / install packs).
  • 3D modelling and rendering to aid the design department, client sign off and workshop construction.
  • Break existing models into 2D components and drawings for our CNC machines.
  • Implement a strong working knowledge of carpentry, joinery, metalwork, sculpture and other fabrication methodologies to create practical and cost effective designs.
  • Liaise with design/production managers to provide advice on value engineering and estimating.
  • Accurately cost up designs and provide estimates for potential fabrication briefs.
  • Research new CAD/CAM technologies when required.
  • Undertake venue surveys, generating relevant drawings as required.
  • Keep all files and folders archived appropriately and ensure a structured and consistent drawings issue register. (to production managers and construction).
  • Be present in the workshop and at installations to ensure designs are being realised to specification.

Who are we looking for?

  • The ideal candidate will have creative drive, the ability to work in a fast paced environment and desire to set the bar high.
  • Have significant industry background, with extensive experience of manufacturing methods and materials related to scenic/environmental fit outs and live events (sustainable methods and materials an advantage).
  • Ability to create detailed technical drawings for carpentry, joinery, metal fabrication and technical staging layouts.
  • Experience of collaborating and working closely with designers, production managers and construction teams.
  • Proficiency in the use of 2D and 3D modelling softwares such as AutoCAD, Rhino and/or Vectorworks.
  • CNC drawing skills and experience working with setters/programmers.
  • A good understanding of H&S/CDM regulations related to construction and manufacturing.
  • Ability to carry out accurate and methodical site surveys as and when required.
  • Experience in the costing up and price estimating process.
  • Willing and able to travel overseas for jobs as required.
